UNBOXING: February’s JOMO Box - Keeping Motivated With Healthy Habits
Dry January was an absolute belter. An extremely busy time for the alcohol-free space and for the JOMO Club team. We found mindsets shifted significantly this year with more people than ever embracing a sober month. Interestingly, the biggest difference we found this year was not just more people taking on Dry January but many were taking on variations such as Damp January or Try January.
Let me unpick the difference.
Dry January is a month of sobriety. 30 days to assess your relationship with booze and feel any benefits that are associated with not drinking for a whole month.
Damp January is a month that embraces change. It isn’t a month for total abstinence, but it is a month to drink mindfully. A drink here and there - no binge drinking but not completely sober. At JOMO, we happen to be advocates for this. With such a bad, binge drinking culture in the UK, I think it is positive to be able to have a drink here and there PLUS we have seen people take on Dry January and as soon as February hits the drinking doubles as your brain feels you have been restricting. Similar to a yo-yo diet.
Try January. Our new favourite. Alcohol-free drinking has now become so accepted over the past year that we have moved on from Dry January with Try January being encouraged. An opportunity to try more, great tasting alcohol-free drinks across the month of January! This makes the month more exciting, feels less like restriction and makes it more likely to stick to healthy habits.
Following January, we are seeing more people looking to continue moderation or abstinence and luckily, a new month means a new JOMO Box. Below we unbox this for you.

Thank you to you all for making Dry January 2024 the best yet. We received some overwhelming responses and emails and for that, we are eternally grateful. When launching JOMO Club our inspiration was to help people discover the best tasting alternatives to alcohol on the market. In reality (and said with as much modesty as we can), we have inspired others, helped some change their relationship with alcohol forever, motivate others to stay sober through great drinks and even helped the alcohol-free industry to grow. We never expected such a thing and we are truly humbled to have made an impact on anybody’s life.
