Real Life: A regular drinker to 90 days sober

When we launched JOMO Club, the UK’s alcohol-free spirit subscription box, we were motivated by bringing the very best alternatives to alcohol right to peoples doors. Never in a million years did we believe we would be able to help change drinking behaviours or be such an important step in so many’s journeys.

Since JOMO’s launch in 2021 we have had countless messages, emails, DMs and even people coming to events to tell us in person how we have changed things for them. This is beyond our wildest dreams and truly becomes a motivator for JOMO each and every day now. This is so much more than an amazing alcohol-free drinks, this is about habits, improving lives, new rituals, a healthier life and being present.

This really was brought to our attention once again when a brand new JOMO member emailed JOMO following taking on Dry January 2024. If you don’t know what you could possibly drink if you gave up booze or if you don’t think cutting back on alcohol could be for you, this customer email is for you.

Why does this email excite us beyond such a glowing review?

  1. Variety. Alcohol-free in supermarkets and bars are growing undoubtedly but are still limited. For this reason, with most of us conditioned to go to the supermarkets for all our needs, many think alcohol-free options are limited. This is so far from the truth. There aren’t just hundreds of non-alcoholic spirits, drinks in the alcohol-free space are improving significantly in quality! With more people not just looking for any alternative but for an alternative that really means something, brands are tweaking and launching focusing on quality. We are so excited to be at the forefront of bringing this variety.

  2. Surprise. Our new JOMO member wondered what people could possibly drink if it weren’t wine or Prosecco so tried JOMO as an experiment with extremely low expectations. She was impressed being new to the alcohol-free! Surprising and changing expectations and perceptions is music to our ears here at JOMO.

  3. Here for good. After doing Dry January as an experiment and finding it easier than expected given having the ritual and flavour of a drink without the booze, she has now decided to go sober for 90 days!! It doesn’t matter whether this will lead to being teetotal for good or just bring more awareness to her own relationship with alcohol, going 90 days sober really bring more awareness and mindfulness to be able to understand your body better and what the future might personally look like.

  4. Adventure. An AF adventure supported by JOMO is magic. Being able to look at cutting out booze as an adventure and not a ‘challenge’ or ‘chore’ is the absolute best way to look at it. Look at what could be gained by this and have fun with it. It can bring so much joy
